I found a tool called makemkv and it can convert the vobs to mkv without re-encoding (no quality loss) and in the correct order so the vobs become mkv which will be the proper episodes in each file, and mkv's are pretty compatible and easier to work with in many other apps like a.i. I always thought 'decomb + default' was fine, but I apparently didn't know what I was missing :) It's fantastic.Įdit: for anyone that struggles with dvd vob's not contiguous (they seem out of order or not the full tv episode), handbrake can figure out what each title should be and groups the vobs properly but I ran into this when I tried to open the vob in other programs that weren't aware of how to piece the vobs together properly. Note: Here is an example to give you an idea about the Very Slow settings - a user on Handbrake forum reported that it took overs 8 hours to encode 5 DVDs (about 6hr 40min) into X264.
